Controlling Interest in Net Access
Is the Internet information, or is it telecommunications? Perhaps a strange question, but the answer is filled with such portent that the U.S. Supreme Court is deciding the answer. And the fallout has wide implications for cable system operators, Internet service providers, and even the telecom industry.
@Home changed its name to Excite@Home last week after the completion of its merger, but databases still list the company as @Home (Nasdaq: ATHM) . So, let's continue to call it @Home. After all, writing Excite@Home requires more bandwidth.

If AOL Time Warner (NYSE: AOL) ever needed a wildly successful launch of the latest version of its online service, it's now. Once a standalone company -- and a soaring one at that -- AOL has been flagging during the last few years as subscribers flee by the thousands and advertising revenue plummets.

Fact: America Online is, for now at least, just another premium subscriber service provided by AOL.
Emergency Response VSAT Internet Communications
As 2005 begins, there are a number of products on the market which enable Emergency Response Units to have internet connectivity at remote disaster locations. The products marketed this year mount on vehicles from Fire Rescue units to most any type of truck or van, on specially designed trailers utilizing portable generators and in transportable boxes which can be shipped by UPS or Fed X overnight to most any location in the U.S.
What exactly is an intranet? It's one of those terms that's more thrown around than understood, and has become more of a buzzword than a commonly understood idea. Simply put, an intranet is a private network with Internet technology used as the underlying architecture.
As the Internet has matured, becoming more like any other must-have utility you might have in your domicile, it's arguable that folks are far less likely to tolerate its absence than they might have been in its early years
AOL, Road Runner Make Fast Friends
Here's a stroke of "master of the obvious" genius. Time Warner (NYSE: TWX) has finally managed to patch things up between its AOL and Road Runner properties. It's difficult to imagine that it's taken this long, but at least it has finally come to pass.
